Things are looking up, and maybe it's down to the interval training, or maybe it's random.
Went for the usual 2 km run loop on Wednesday, having set the watch to beep every 90 seconds, idea being to push hard and then slack, alternately. Turns out my slacking speed is pretty much like my normal speed. Admittedly my pushing speed isn't much faster but it is different. So with this ahem scientific approach I ventured out for the 2km and felt marginally unknackered after - so did another lap :o
My average speed for the 2 laps was better than my usual, recent pace for just 1 lap as of a week ago. Of course it could just be down to the cooler weather but I'm putting this down to the interval work.
parkrun :)
So naturally I approached parkrun this morning with some optimism. Set the watch to a 5 minute warm up and then alternating 2 minute 'push' and 3 minute 'slacking'. It seemed to work out ok and I smashed my PB by over 30 seconds, so I'm now sub-30 minutes for the 5k parkrun. Felt really, really knackered but recovery was ok. Not sure if the 5 pints last night had an effect on any of this ......
