Not sure which I'm doing .....
Since my semi-triumphant return to parkrun a few weeks ago my times have got slower. That can't be right. I'm trying to get a run in 2 or 3 times a week, but I'm struggling to find the wherewithal to do more than 2 km on a regular basis - and that leaves me puffing and panting like a dog with its tongue hanging out.
Last weekend at parkrun I had Gareth run with me as my pacer / motivator to try and get the speed up, and it worked a bit; turned in a 40 second improvement (for me - it was obviously his worst time ever - he didn't even deign to go through the finish gate). Hey-ho, onward and upward. I'm going to have to look into some running improver techniques - allegedly those fast-twitch muscle fibres are the boys to work on, also more rhythmic breathing.
We'll see. Hopefully!
