Ran New Year's Eve parkrun in Bolton - more like a cross-country than anything else - hills, tracks, mud. AND they all set off like whippets; the first 500 or 600 m was round Leverhulme Park running track and they all seemed to shoot off like it was a 800m or something. Anyway despite the rain, mud and puddles I completed in a creditable (for me) 31:38, and looked forward to a warm shower and a nice bowl of porridge back at mum's. Gareth couldn't be bothered to get out of bed so missed out on this wonderful parkrun tourism experience.
Christmas and New Year seemed to pass quickly and VERY enjoyably so resolutions now need to kick in, seriously! Since then I've run 1 more parkrun and been for a steady 20km bike ride. BUT have briefly tested out the turbo-trainer and fitted my spare bike with a smooth, cool-running, orange (!) rear tyre. So that's going to get some use over the next few months. It came with a training DVD so I don't have to watch the entire Tarantino and Marvel movie backlogs, and past recordings of Shameless. PS takes note to self: must update my lovefilm list.
I just ordered a mental-hardness-for-sportsmen book from Amazon so looking forward to great things once that arrives :) Anyone want to borrow it after ???
