Hooray!!!!!!
A week of high altitude eating and drinking (or "training" as I like to call it) in La Plagne has paid off. Parkrun PB slashed by over 25 seconds :) It feels like some kind of breakthrough cos I've been stuck on the previous best for months now (from 29:15 down to 28:48). I've been pestering Iain W to let me join him on some of his 10-mile training runs and it looks like he's softening - he asked me to join him last weekend but sadly I was still queueueueueing in an airport to come home, or collect my bags, or at a filling station or something.
Swimming hasn't seen any action for months except for 4 lengths in the wellness centre pool in La Plagne, as a warm-up for jumping in the hot tub - Ahhh! I was going to visit Southam Pool last night (honest!) but it closed early for Good Friday. But oh - I discussed swimming with my friend Craig on holiday, does that count??
Cycling, do I hear you ask? Yeah well, the turbo trainer is set up in the garage (been banished from the living room) and I'm trying to organise a bit of a proper outdoor ride for this weekend. The last outing was a 20-miles offroad late night ride, involving 5 pubs and a 3am return time. It's all good, trust me ;)
Nutrition and hydration is on the back burner but as I, ahem, start to up the distances I'll be listening closely to the messages my body gives me although I suspect the main one will be "STOP!"........
